Basketball Season Is Here

Well, it makes me physically ill to say it, but the Red Sox have stolen the baseball season, and the Patriots stand firmly on top of the NFL, please knock them off their high horse Indy.  Basketball season has started. The Lakers lost their first game last night against Houston, with fans booing Kobe for a majority of the game, only to be silenced by his 45 pt night.  Will he be traded, will anyone still root for the Lakers?  The drama continues...

Happy Halloween I.F.S.!

This one isn't really Halloween themed, but it is Tom Jones in a mask.

I Work With This Guy

My fellow KJEE employee Adam has made his mark on the Morning Show as the Jackass who isn't afraid to ask the tough questions. ...Okay, maybe not so much "tough" as they are obnoxious. This particular piece has caught fire, having been featured on Fox Sports.com, SI.com, and Best Week Ever's site. Almost as funny as the interview are the comments on his Youtube page. Here ya go...

This one isn't as popular, but still pretty good.

South Dakota: Under God, the People Rule

I'm very pleased to hear all the Kurts had a great time at the Halloween bash...Is it true that Jimmy was the Dad from 'Sky High'? Wish I could have seen that or any Kurt for that matter. Hopefully I made up for it by using my 12-Gage Winchester to catch a delicious part of our Thanksgiving feast. Cheers!

11 Kurts = STRONG

Good to see all you fellas again last night.  I had a blast and thanks to Rousing for helping put it all together and Amanda for hosting another great time.  Even though I took 15 years off my life yesterday, I had a great time doing it.  I even got to talk to a non-belligerent Athletics, that's a very uncommon occurrence.....  Hoping to make it to see the old ball coach this weekend, but It's gonna be a last minute decision for me.  I'm gonna be repping Caruthers Football gear regardless.

The Cheese Whiz of Pancakes - Batter Blaster

Batterblaster

Not to overshadow the passing of Arnold, but to bring a lighter note into our day, I bring you Batter Blaster, the new easy way to make flapjacks.  Pancakes will never be the same again.  AMAZING!

RIP Arnold

Turtle_red_ear_slider_rainforest_bgAt 5:55pm today I discovered our beloved Arnold the Red-Eared Slider Turtle had expired.  He is survived by Louie and a few goldfish.  He died of natural causes and appeared peaceful, it was a good death.  Arnold will be remembered for his ability to eat multiple goldfish in one sitting, absorbing sun rays on Monkey Rock, and swimming incessantly into the tank glass.  Upon viewing this post, please take a moment from your busy day to remember Arnold and send a prayer his way in Turtle Heaven.  He willed sole possession of Monkey Rock to Louie.  Rest in Peace old boy.

My Kurt Russell Halloween Costume...

Sorry for the delay, I've been mulling this decision over for quite sometime now and luckily my two roles haven't been taken yet. It was a tough decision, but I think I have come to a grand conclusion. Assuming that I will be able to find the fits, I, Athletics, will be R.J. MacReady from John Carpenter's THE THING (1982).

"R.J. MacReady is a helicopter pilot for U.S. Outpost 31 in the Antarctic. Part of a twelve man crew, MacReady is the groups outsider. Seldom participating in social activities he takes to playing games of chess quietly in his cabin whilst also developing the starts of an alcoholic addiction due to his love of Jim Beam whisky. He also enjoys the company of an inflatable rubber girl doll from time to time (seen in deleted scenes).

MacReady takes control when the intruder organism infiltrates Outpost 31 but not for glory or for the good of the others simply because he is a survivor and is doing what he thinks best for himself to survive, which means he needs the others so he must also help them to survive. It is only towards the end of the film that MacReady truly understands what the intruder organism is capable of and realises that it may be in the best interests of mankind if no-one survives from Outpost 31. (something that the far gone Blair discovered from the very beginning.)

If anyone was likely to survive the intruder organism it would be MacReady as he never trusted anyone from the very beginning and so never had to learn the hard way..." IMDB

"Trust is a tough thing to come by these days." -R.J. MacReady

The State of the Many Roles of Kurt Russell Address

Russell
In just two days, we will be uniting to form the MANY ROLES OF KURT RUSSELL.  For those of you who missed the first post, we will be uniting to form the MANY ROLES OF KURT RUSSELL at Amanda's house in Los Feliz this Saturday night.  Here's her address:

3424 Lambeth Street
Los Angeles, CA 90027

Here's a "Breakdown" of who's coming and which Kurt Russell they will be portraying:

- Minister of Media and Technology will be Jack Burton from "Big Trouble in Little China."
- Minister of MOM will be Snake Plissken from "Escape from L.A."
- Minister of Competition will be solar explorer, Col. Jonathan 'Jack' O'Neil from "Stargate."
- Minister of Rousing will be Dean Proffitt from "Overboard."
- Minister of Interior Design will be Coach Herb Brooks from "Miracle."
- Minister of Letters will be Michael Zane from "3,000 Miles to Graceland."
- Minister of Defense will be McCabe from "Vanilla Sky."
- Future Minister and IFS blood relative Ryan Maughan will be Stephen 'Bull' McCaffrey from "Backdraft."
- Longtime Friend of IFS and forever welcome Guest Member Ben Persons will be Captain Ron from "Captain Ron."

That's nine Kurt Russells by my count, just shy of double digit Kurt Russells.  Now, I know that Health/Trade will be attending the party - so if he dresses up as a Kurt Russell, then we'll have ten Kurt Russells total.  Also, Philanthropy is attempting to shift his work schedule around so he can make it as well.  International Affairs, Maritime, Athletics and Shwayne, we haven't heard anything from you four so please comment on this post with your status.  Younger/Taller/Athleticer and Letters will be coming down from SB, and Media will be coming up from the OC, so finding a ride should not be a problem.  Also, here's some last minute costume suggestions that should be easy to throw together:

- As Jeff Taylor in "Breakdown," Kurt wears a Ralph Lauren polo tucked in to khakis, and cool sunglasses:
Breakdown

- Kurt wears a tux in "Executive Decision" and a black suit in Poseidon (granted, you'd have to jump in a shower for this one).
- Wyatt Earp - we still  need one.  Calls for a taller man with a strong mustache and a cowboy outfit, so I'm thinking Esteban.  Whoever takes this role, the all black getup would be the right way to do it.
- "Dark Blue" would be easy.  Black collared shirt, leather jacket, light blue jeans and black sneakers:
Darkblue

Anyways, just some ideas.  Like Competition commented earlier, this seems destined as Kurt Russell made a strong appearance on South Park last night.  I hope everyone can make it.  The more Russells the better.

- Rousing
